Welcome to the Dog and Partridge Website!
With origins in the 18th century, it is not too surprising to learn that the Dog and Partridge was once a coaching inn with its own smithy. In those days the ale house was known by the locals as Taskers, after the men who worked in the smithy. Continuing to cater to travellers, as well as the local community, the pub is a large traditional country inn with a great deal of character. The interior is cosy and welcoming and although there is no longer a smithy, there is a superb conservatory which looks out over the beer garden. Seating up to 75 diners, the non-smoking conservatory dining area is elegantly styled and ideal for a special meal out. The menu is excellent, with a wide range of dishes on the a la carte menu catering to all tastes, while the bar menu offers tasty snacks and lighter offerings. Food is served at every session, although it is bar meals only on Sunday and Monday evenings. The bar stocks a choice of two real ales, with Marstons Pedigree and Worthington kept on tap. There is also a good wine list. The owners, Malcolm and Hazel, have chosen the Dog and Partridge to be their first venture into the trade and in their time here have gone from strength to strength.
